Ben Hibon

Ben is a Swiss director, best known for his Tale of Three Brothers sequence in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which received an Academy Award nomination in 2010. In 2004 Ben helped launching Blinkink, the experimental label of Blink Productions, right in the heart of London’s busy Soho. In his time working at Blinkink, Ben directed a number of projects ranging from TV commercials, music videos, game trailers and short films.

In 2006, following the success of two collaborations with infamous Japanese creators Suda 51 and Sakichi Sato, Ben wrote, designed and directed a short film inspired by his love for asian animation. Codehunters was premiered at the MTV Asia Awards 2006 held in Bangkok. Codehunters won multiple awards around the world and toured the festival circuit for many years. It received nominations at the Raindance Film Festival The Rushes Shorts. It won a gold award for Best Animation at Promax/BDA Asia Awards, the Imagina Award for best short film, a D&AD Nomination and took home the Golden Nica Award at the Prix Ars Electronica.

Ben's highly visual and narrative work in commercials and video games opened up opportunities in Hollywood. With the support of the prestigious talent agency WME, Ben met with Harry Potter producer David Heyman and director David Yates in 2010. Ben was commissioned to design and direct the-now-infamous scene of The Tale of Three Brothers, who received global acclaim from the fans and an Academy Award nomination for Best VFX.

Working with Yates on Harry Potter proven to be a successful experience, and Ben went on to collaborate with other Hollywood filmmakers, most notably Tarsem Singh (Mirror Mirror) and Zack Snyder (Suckerpunch). Developing a close relationship with feature directors and Hollywood studios since 2010, Ben's work extended to production design on projects such as Rupert Sanders's Snow White and The Huntsman or most recently Breck Eisner's The Last Witch Hunter.

Ben is currently working as a co-EP, director and creative lead on a full CG animated STAR TREK series for CBS and Nickelodeon. STAR TREK: PRODIGY is coming 2021.
